I have read its risky for one, you have to undergo a lot of injections, and for me personally, I would only do it for a close relative or friend, because I feel uncomfrotable with my own DNA being passed on to another family. Its essentially 1/2 of your baby. Plus, heck I dont have enough of my own eggs for all the kids I hope to have Chat Icon

My neighbor was going to do this for a friend of hers and I thought it was such a nice thing to do-but fortunately her friend got preg so she didnt have to!

I am not offended in the least....but it is kind of a funny question since most of us here are having problems with our own eggs, never mind selling them :-O

I think some posters may even be looking into egg donation.

4 years ago I thought about donating eggs, but you had to trek into the city X times a week (month?), and there was too much risk, and time involved. But I applaude women who do this -- donate OR receive!!

from what I understand it's a pretty uncomfortable procedure plus you have to go on fertility drugs which means if you are married or in a relationship...you have to use a condom or physical barrier to prevent pregnancy.

I would not want to think that there is a child out there conceived of my DNA and they are someone else's.....

There are a lot of side effects to the drugs used to prepare you for egg donation.

I really don't think that I would ever be comfortable with having children out there in the world with my DNA and never knowing where they were. I have heard that it can be a risky procedure also. But I don't know too much about the details. Also, I be afaid that by giving away my eggs, I just might loose a chance to have a baby of my own.

Re: I hope I don't offend anyone here...

it's a huge hassle, all drugs have side effects, and anything that makes you ovulate more increases your risk of ovarian cancer.

I have a history of gyn cancers in the family so i wouldn't do it for the increased risk.

But kudos to anyone that does it for someone else!
