HELP! Need ADVICE LONG
This is not for me its for dh,. not that eh asked me to post this but.. he needs to loose a significant amount of weight. He has really been trying the first two weeks he lost 4lbs each week then the last two NOTHING.he is so upset with him self. he has a slow metabilism hard to loose weight and when he does one think make sit come right back. he isnt following a set dioet like ww, slim fast, atkins. he is just watching eating smaller portions healthier meals. I told him that for one week he should try to stick to one diet either ww points, low carb( not atkins where its high fat but lean meats and veggies) or do two slim fasts and sensible dinner to se eif it makesa difrrence. He is like i am doing everytign right im not trying it your way. My opnion is bc he is not doing a set diet he is probabaly not getting teh right mixture of carbs, and protiens, thast why he needs someting to follow. He also started to go back to teh gym.he broke his leg in june and hasnt been able to go. What cna i do or saty to him to help.any diet ideas?

Re: HELP! Need ADVICE LONG
I don't think you have to follow a diet to lose weight. As long as you're eating a balanced diet and eating the proper amount of calories, that's all that matters.
For exercise, if he follows something like Body For Life or Turbulence Training, he'll see results. I bought Turbulence Training out of curiosity and it really is a good program. If you go to You Tube and search for Craig Ballantyne (the Turbulence Training guy) you'll see a bunch of his exercise demonstrations. Your DH can decide if he likes it or not and then maybe buy the Turbulence Training guide (it's only $39.95). Just Google it and you'll see what you get when you order. I think it's worth it (or Body For Life too).
Also, there's Global Health and Fitness. When you join, the owner will personally e-mail you and give you an exercise and eating plan, and then assign a trainer to you who you can e-mail with questions about exercises, etc. I also tried it just to see what it was about and it's really really good. You get to download ProTrack which is a nutrition and exercise log. The nutrition log alone is worth the money for joining Global Health (you can also buy the software separately). The nutrition is the most important part of losing weight!
Here's Global Health and Fitness
Good luck to him!

Re: HELP! Need ADVICE LONG
My Dh lost almost 100 lbs. doing body for life. However, he was VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY dedicated and didn't deviate from the plan at all!

Re: HELP! Need ADVICE LONG
It's pretty normal to lose weight in the begining and then slow down or stop. If you are eating significantly less your metabolism will actually slow down. I think points would be a good plan for him so that he's making sure he's eating enough calories for his body.
Tell him to hang in there!

The gym is the best way to speed up your metabolism. Too much restriction of food will only slow his metabolism more. It is important that he does at least 30 minutes of cardio a day 4-6 days a week. My dad did this and really saw results.

Re: HELP! Need ADVICE LONG
watching what he eats and exercise should be enoufe make sure he's eating enoufe. Also if he's not already doing so he should try eating 5 to 6 times a day is the best way. Also if he's eating right and exercising and not seeing results he might have a problem that's how i found out my thyroid was out of whack.
