eggs/omlettes...onion powder
homemade mac & cheese...mustard powder (although a lot of recipes call for it anyway)

From DH:
A dried marinade rub, especially for pork (oven or pan-fried):
Dried oregano, prepared mustard, and a bit of curry powder

Re: Will you share your "secret ingredient"?
for anything mexican...especially taco meat, the secret ingredient is smoked paprika
for mac and cheese, or a cheddar sauce for veggies, I add diced onion to the butter before making a roux... this makes everything sweet and oniony
for cream soups, my secret ingredient is cayenne... gives it a bit of zip, so it doesn't taste bland
for burgers, I add a bit of milk soaked bread and bacon grease to the meat before making patties. The smoky bacon grease makes the burgers so yummy....
for my tomato sauce, my secret ingredients are balsamic vinegar and molasses. Just a bit of each does so much

Two Words. Salsa Lizzano.
I bring them back from the Spanish supermarket in Freeport. It makes everything amazingly delish. It has a deep and layered flavor that adds that extra something to anything from chicken to chili.

Re: Will you share your "secret ingredient"?
Just a little cocoa powder in my chili. No one can ever figure out what the flavor is but they love it.
For my garlic mashed potatoes I boil the garlic with the potatoes. It flavors everything and it makes the garlic so tender that they melt into the potatoes when you whip them.
