Spinoff--what does YOUR DH do...

...when you go gift shopping?

Mine is similar to Stef's; he stares into space, probably thinking about Play Station or South Park. Sometimes I can see donuts dancing to cirucs music.

Then, just to remind me he's there every 3 minutes or so he says "are we done yet? Can we get Dunkin Donuts after this."

It's so annoying. I mostly just leave him home.

What does your DH do?

I go myself. I learned a long time ago when I wanted him to go do the bridal registry with me that he's not a shopper. In fact, he's dead weight when it comes to shopping and better off left behind.

As soon as we got home, he ran straight to the basement to play Halo 3.

Actually, he is the shoppoer in the family. I'm the one saying "can we go now?" I hate shopping!

He takes charge! He really just likes to get it done and not waste time. I'm the one who will shop for things thats not on our list--lol

It depends on what kind of shopping is being done....

If it's food shopping, and it's a special meal - he's walking up and down every damn aisle 3 times.

If it's staple shopping, I do it by myself, and come home to make him help me bring it all up.

If it's other things... clothes, house things, I'm DEFINITELY by myself, and he's on my phone about every 20 minutes reminding me not to go crazy with the card...

Especially for holiday shopping, I try to do most of that online (I like to shop, but the holiday crowds make me crazy) ...and I usually leave DH out of all of it. Matter of fact, until we exchage gifts with whoever I bought for, he doesn't even know what they got.

I would never bring him shopping. Not because it's my job to do the shopping but because he is such a PITA in stores. He tsks. He sighs. He rolls his eyes. He is annoying.

It's like shopping with a tired child only he stops short of throwing himself on the floor & asking for everything in the store.

I love him to death but he is not into the journey of shopping. It's all a destination to him.

He has his own day to his shopping. I have mine.

The only thing that irritates me bringing DH shopping is:
Me: What do you want for dinner this week? Give me some ideas.
Him: Ummm Whatever you want

No. I need some ideas here. Uuuuggghhh it irritates the crap out of me.

He rarely ever goes with me and when he does, he ruins my experience. I'd rather go alone!

We shop seperately for the holidays.

If it's Home Depot....we wander for hours and calls the Wahmbulance on me!

Holiday shopping?

He buys everything for his family on-line.

I run out separately at night for larger items (kids toys), otherwise I did everything else on-line.

I'm not a mall person, hate the lines, crowds etc. no matter what time of year.

I hate shopping with DH because he analyzes everything her purchases. He will stand there and compare all the different types of socks before he makes his choice...a normal quick shopping outing takes 3 times as long with DH

The hard part is getting him out the door. But once he is there, he is usually great and will help me pick stuff out. (or maybe he is just trying to rush me along )

We are totally diff when shopping. I'm the type of person that makes a list of what I want to get and a price range I'm looking to stay with in. As for dh he picks everything out and then just puts it in the basket. (this is when we shop at the toy store, we try not to go to the mall together ) With the two of my kids we already went over which some people might think is a good thing but it's really not when they have almost everything already and live in a small house All I'm doing is stressing where everything is going to go after they open it.

I shop 99% of the time by myself, but when we do go together, we actually can work together. However, it is extremely important that we both have our cell phones with us, because like a child, DH can disappear in a split second! Especially in Home Depot. I am the wife calling his cell to find out what aisle he disappeared to.
