when should I get a copy of our deed?
We closed around September 20th. When should I expect to receive a copy of the deed? We're in the TOH.
ETA - I'm worried that we won't have it in time to apply for the star exemption.

We closed in less than 30 days of the STAR deadline. ToB accepted the paperwork from our closing that had an unofficial copy of our deed to show we owned the house when we applied for STAR. See if that would work for you.

We got ours this summer and we bought our house the November before !

I applied for Star yesterday with only the closing paperwork. This is the Town of Smithtown.

Did you bring your closing documents, or did you just need your DL?

I remember our Realtor giving us paperwork about the Star rebate and saying to do it right away. I'm pretty sure we just sent something through the mail....we may have had to send copies of documents but I honestly don't remember which.

We are in the ToH and closed on our house the middle of May. We received our deed sometime in July. I would call the town and ask what the procedure is for people who won't receive their actual recorded deed in time to file. I'm sure many other people have gone through this, the town must have an alternate way of applying for people in that situation. Depending on how many people closed around the time that you did, it could take longer than 2 months to receive your deed.
