Help...Need Migraine Doctor

Hi, could anyone recommend a doctor specializing in migraines? My DH has had one for three consecutive days. He's taken some medication that has temporarily eased the pain, but he has been waking up with one each morning.

We live in Western Suffolk, but we would travel anywhere.

TIA!!!

Is it going away and coming back or is it continous? I think honestly, the migraine should be gone by now. I would take him to the ER. You don't want to play around w/ severe headaches like that.

What medication is he taking?

Re: Help...Need Migraine Doctor

Whenever I get a migraine & do not have my prescription pills with me, I take 2 excedrine migraines & it def helps. BUt I agree with the post above go to the ER & have them recommend a doctor close by.

I have a family member who just RAVES about Dr. Brian Hainline in Lake success. He has really helped tame her migraines.

Imitrex is a perscription medicine for migraines. He should definitely see a doctor and probably a neurologist. I would recommend going ASAP if they are recurring. Most migraines can be treated with imitrex. He may need to increase his dose and only the doctor can approve that.

Re: Help...Need Migraine Doctor

He should def go to the ER like the other girls said. I see Dr. Xian of South Shore Neurological in Bayshore. They have other locations as well. Also, in the meantime, give him Excedrin Migraine. My doc tried a good 5 different meds with me and none worked as well as EM.

I'm glad he's better now.
But he usually takes immitrex & it didn't help this time? I have been taking immitrex for the past 10 years.. maybe he needs to up his dosage?

Re: Help...Need Migraine Doctor

Migraines can last for 3 days. You should tell him to see his primary care dr. He will do some routine tests to see if he thinks he should see a neurologists. Imitrex doesn't work great on me. I take Maxalt. I found it worked alot better. Im just coming off a migraine for 2 weeks on and off.
