Have any of you moms been a bridesmaid? Help me!!

I was asked to be in a wedding that is three months after I am due.

How on earth am I going to be able to get a dress? How do I know what size I will be? (With my first child my body changed for months after the baby).

Should I tell the bride that I can't actually walk down the isle?

The dresses she chose are brown - if they were black I would just buy one off the rack right before the wedding.

What is the solution here?

3 months after you give birth you will probably be back to your pre-pregnancy size or very close to it.

What style is the dress?

I was maid of honor at my best friends wedding 3 months after my son was born. I just ordered the largest size & had them alter it.

I was no where NEAR my Prepreggo size three months after my first child. I nursed and actually held on to weight (and huge boobs) because of it.

I have no seen the dress yet.

I was just the matron of honor in my SIL's wedding last week at 5 months pregnant. At the time I needed to order the dress I wasn't pregnant yet, but was hoping to be by the time of the wedding. I ordered a few sizes big and they ended up having to take it in a lot. If I were you I would just order maybe 2 sizes too big and then you can always have it taken in if you need to. It's better to go big and be able to take it in than to try to order your regular size and be out of luck if it doesn't fit.

Oh okay, I never breastfed so that may be why the weight came right off.

I would say talk to your friend and see what options you have, maybe the dress she chose can be altered easily, if you order it in a larger size.

I'm 5 months pp & nursing & my chest is still huge & although I weigh 5 lbs more than I was, my body isn't the shape it used to be. I'd order at least 2 sizes larger...they can always take it in.

I was in my sister's wedding 4 months after I had Julia and I was EBF too, I just ordered the BM dress in the largest size and got measured a few weeks before the wedding, I was the last one to get measured since I didn't know how much weight I was going to loose.

I'm due in February and in a wedding in April.

With DS I was one to two sizes bigger than I was three months out so I'm going by that. Some people are back to their pre-pregnancy size but, I never got back there so I went with two sizes bigger this time, especially since I'll be BF.

I was MOH 4 mths. after my daughter was born. I ordered a size up than I would normally order. I am normally between a 2-4 and ordered a size 6. I had it taken in drastically.
Unfortunetly I wished I had a better time, meaning I was more focused on my sister and HER day than worrying about leaking boobs, is my daughter ok, when can I get to her to feed her and so on... It is totally duable, Ijust wish I did things differently.

I was a bridesmaid 2 months after having DS. I just ordered the dress big and had it altered. I also waited as long as possible to get the alterations because weight came off every day at that point, probably because of bfing. Explain it to the woman measuring you in the bridal shop. They'll be able to advise you. I am sure this comes up all the time.

I'm confused about why you wouldn't walk down the aisle? I'm not sure what the difference would be in regards to standing there or walking, you will still be in the dress Chat Icon

One of my sister's BM's is due in Jan. and the wedding is in May. She is guestimating her size at David's Bridl and will just have it altered after the baby is born.

No offense, but I think this is not a fair assumption. i was a BM 3 1/2 mos after I delivered DS & I was not even close to my pre-pregnancy weight. I was put on bed rest before and after my c-section, and was not able to walk, never mind work out.

At any rate, if you go to an experienced shop they will be able to try and estimate what size you will need based on the style and cut of the dress. My shop asked me to come in twice; once when I popped and then again at 6 months to track my growth. They ordered a dress 2 sizes larger than what I needed at 4 months and it fit very well 3 mos PP.

OK- this made me Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon I'm SIX months PP and still not down to my pre-preggo weight,

I was MOH in my sister's wedding at 3 mos PP- and it wasn't pretty. I ordered my dress 2 sizes up from my pre-preggo size and it was fine.

Even though I admit I was feeling pretty uncomfortable- I was fat and was dealing with having to pump every few hours- it wasn't ABOUT me and my feelings. It was for my sister- who I love very much and needed me to stand by her on her wedding day.

You'll have to put your feelings aside. Order the dress a couple sizes larger, have it taken in if needed, be a good friend and be in the wedding.

I agree. At least as far as dresses go - they are easier to squeeze into. Besides, you don't get fitted until about 2 months before the wedding anyway, so you can go one size up than normal and just have alterations. You should be fine.Chat Icon

i am the moh in my friends wedding the beginning of february..That is about 4 1/2 months after having my baby. I just ordered the dress in the size that fits me now, and I hope to lose some weight by them and have it altered.

i was a bm SIX WEEKS postpartum Chat Icon

it wasn't pretty.

but i basically ordered my dress 2 sizes bigger than my regular size and then had it altered. there wasn't much to take in, but it worked. just to give you an idea, i gained 23-25 pounds in pregnancy and had lost only half of it at the time of the wedding. i am breastfeeding, which helped me lose weight initially, but which i think is causing me to hang on to the extra 12 pounds...

Re: Have any of you moms been a bridesmaid? Help me!!

I was a bridesmaid 2 months after giving birth and I was no where near my pre-pregnancy weight. And it was my first child, so I had no idea what my body would look like. I told the women at the bridal shop what the situation was, and they ordered a dress for me a few sizes larger than I would normally wear. They estimated perfectly! When I went in to have it fitted, it was almost the perfect size.
Just order the dress in a larger size and you should be fine. Chat Icon

I agree with MsMBV. I only gained 3lbs when I was pregnant, I weigh 11 less then I did when I got pregnant and I don't wear my pre-preggo size. My body totally changed and things fit SO much differently then they did.

To the OP, I'd order 3 sizes bigger, but ask at the bridal salon, they will know what to tell you
