Lost My Dad on Thanksgiving
I just lost my step Dad on Thanksgiving day. When I got the call, I couldn't believe what my mom was telling me. The even harder part was telling my step-sisters (that I'm very close with and don't really ever call my step-sisters). They were so sad. I can't get what they said out of my head. I keep replaying it in my head over and over. He died of cancer after about of year of fighting it. We knew it was going to be much longer, but right on a holiday made it harder for everyone. My Mom is ok, but I think she is being strong in front of the rest of us. I'm worried about her.  It's hard when you are the one taking care of the person who is sick. She doesn't know what to do with herself now. Wakes up in the middle of the night to look to see if he is ok or not to find him not there. It breaks my heart.

So sorry to hear about your dad. I know exactly what you are feeling. My dad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away 6 weeks later at the age of 61. My mom is so lost. It has only been three months and it is very very hard. Hang in there and know that each day that comes makes it a little easier to deal with.

I am so sorry for your loss! The holiday makes it so much harder.
My stepdad passed away last year 9 days before Christmas. It was very difficult.
It is almost a year later & my Mom is doing ok as I'm sure your mom will. It just takes time.
