I NEED help
What do I do about this crying/anxiety stuff?
I literally cannot take it, I have a headache from listening to it.
he is FINE when we go out, caus eIm right there, things to see etc.
But I cannot go to the bathroom without him FLIPPING out like I have never seen.
Right now hes on the bed near me but cranking and crying b/c Im not staring at him...he will laugh if I look at him.
But we have been playing all morning....Its not like Im ignoring him.
I need to cook for myself etc and the littlest things are just impossible this last week.
ADVICE?
WHAT DO I DO?
I am about to cry cause I cant MOVE.

Re: I NEED help
I am going through the same thing with Baby G. I just try my best to sooth him to sleep and then I do what I have to. I am visiting the Ped this coming week, so I am going to ask her when I see her. I feel like I am chained to him

Re: I NEED help
I've been there - not sure how to remedy your situation immediately but I found that when I started playing peek a boo - hiding around corners and then coming back, making a game out of it he learned that it's OK if I'm out of his sight for a second or 2. The other thing that will help is time

Re: I NEED help
You need to go on and do what you have to. Is he sick? teething? hungry? soiled? If not, then you must do what you have to! maybe give him something to play with? My DD gets like that ONLY when I'm home. and it drives me bonkers. so when I cook, I'll have her come by me and I'll give her some tupperware and spoons and have her "cook" beside me.. I feel that whenever I give her something to do or somehow include her in what I'm doing, she gets better right away!
Good luck!

Re: I NEED help
Best thing I can suggest is the Baby Bjorn or Peek-A-Boo followed by physically walking out of the room & peek a booking back helps. Do it longer & longer each time - eventually they get the idea that you will come back.

Re: I NEED help
is he rolling or crawling yet?
mine got easier when he use to just spend his days rolling around after me. I would tell him to come on, follow me, by the time he got there, I was already doing something else.

Re: I NEED help
Ok...Im trying these already..I will step them up. We started the peek a boo a bit ago when it started...
I have him playing with his fav toys right near me at all times, its my attention he wants....
I dont think hes sick , and I dont think hes in immediate teething ..no signs.

Re: I NEED help
the good news is that it is a phase. Your best bet is to let him cry a little....leave the room, come back. HE needs to learn that A: you will come back B: object permanence....even though he can't see you, you still exist.
Let him play alone. Leave him with DH--disappear for a short time (even in another room) and then come back.
Also, talking to them while you are out of sight helps ALOT.

Re: I NEED help
I would also recommend a baby carrier. That way you will be right there but still able to do things with both hands free. Good luck.

Re: I NEED help
How old is he??? I know they arent good to use. but a walker helped DD a lot. She loves it. It all depends what age he is. I think we started putting her in the walker aroud 6 months. It took her a little bit to get the hang of it but now she walks all over the place with it.

Re: I NEED help
I went though the same thing with Cailen - it's calming down a bit now...
Honestly, I took him to the bathroom with me and let him sit by the door or on the floor... or sit in the kitchen with me while I made lunch or did dishes.... Not the most conveninet, but it gave my head a break for a little bit...

Re: I NEED help
I remember those days because it was an onset right when you thought life was getting easier it was MUCH harder and honestly again it will end and again it will return. Its these small milestones that they take that I guess they become fearful or anxious and take a step back. Gillian was not a pleasure to handle tonite at a restaurant and she is always easy. It will pass.

Re: I NEED help
Advice: have you tried a babysitter? Just so he gets used to someone else and you can get some alone time. Also, maybe do some playdates where he has to interact with others and doesnt count so much on mommy. Just some thoughts.
