My Lhasa Jingles, was a christmas gift 10yrs ago from my mom

My Labradoodle was supposed to be Fifi, but she wouldn't leave us alone she became our shadow so we named her Shadow

My little one (not sure what she really is) (my avatar pic) looks like a lttle fox, so her name is Foxy.

he was 1pd when we got him and a little fluff ball. I wanted a tough guys name for him.

Chablis - was after my favorite french wine

Bollinger - is after a nice champagne

Merlot - we wanted to stick with the wine theme, it suits him and as he is a tabby he has an "M" on his forehead

Chino - he was my first puppy and I didn't know what puppy breath smelled like. I thought he was so original that his breath smelled like coffee or cappachino...chino

Brandy - we adopted her from the humane society and they had named her Bandit. I didn't like it so we changed the name to something similar.

Jersey got her name from the place where we adopted her Her foster home was there, they had rescued her from a kill shelter.

since they are brother and sister from the same litter we wanted names that went together. After a lot of back and forth I came up with Norton and Trixie (because I love the show and thought they were cute names) and dH came up with Mischief and Mayhem. I'm glad i won! They are totally a norton and a trixie.

Oscar was already a year old when we got him and we did not want to change his name. I have taken to calling him Owen and I do not believe he hears the difference, so he answers to both. For obvious reasons, I'll venture to say that he looks like an Oscar.

Simba after the movie Lion King. He's a big fat orange cat, like a Lion. LOL.

My parents have 2 dogs. A yellow lab which they got on Superbowl Sunday, so, my brother named her Corona.
They also have a Bouvier des flanderes and my mother Always loved the name Bailey. So, there we go..Corona and Bailey..LOL.

Nikki (my dog) came from Nike (as in Nike shoes.) My mom - the workout freak - wanted to name the puppy nike and then i said no, but how about nikki.

My cat, Owen, is named that b/c I just love that name and don't plan on having kids anytime soon. LOL.

My cat is named Nicodemus (we call her Nikki). I named her when I was in 8th grade b/c I thought the name sounded cool. Someone also told me it meant little devil, and I thought it was cute since she is all black. About 6 months later sitting in church with my parents, I realized Nicodemus is a prophet in the Bible.

My Arabian horse, Phaxxton (pronounced "Paxton") had his name when I got him. The woman who first rescued him named him after a rider she saw at a clinic once. She thought he was an awesome rider and named the horse after him. (It's an honor to have a horse named after you.) She changed the spelling of his name by adding an "h" and an extra "x" b/c many Arabians have "funky" spellings to their names. His registered name, BA Iron Will, was given to him by his breeders when he was born, so (other than knowing that the BA stands for the name of the farm that bred him), I don't know why they chose it. I kept his name when I acquired him b/c he knew it and I am friendly with the woman I got him from.

My Standardbred horse, Joey, was named by me. His registered name (under which he raced) was Jo Pa's Connection. The rescue organization I got him from was calling him "Jo Pa" but I was't a fan of that. I turned it into Joey and he knows his name now. Interestingly, doing some research, I came to learn that he was originally registered by his breeders as Tyler's Fleet (a combination of his sire and his dam's mother's names, respectively Tyler's Mark and Sweet N Fleet). The owners who purchased him to race him changed his registered name (they must race under their registered names) to Jo Pa's Connection. Having nothing to do with Penn State football the "Jo Pa" comes from the owners' names. I forget their names, but I think it's Joanne and Paul or something. All of their racing stock's registered names are changed to start with Jo Pa to represent their stable.

My (now deceased) dog was named Kelsey. I got the name from a McDonald's commercial. (In fairness to me, I was in 4th grade!) The father is teaching his daughter to ride without training wheels, holding onto the back of the seat. He finally lets go and she rides off down the sidewalk. He yells, "Kelsey, where are you going?" and she replies "McDonalds!" I loved the name, so I gave it to the dog I got around the time the commercial was on TV. Had we adopted a male dog instead, the name would have been Maverick, after Tom Cruise's character in Top Gun.

So those are the very long stories behind my pets' names!

Denver was named after John Denver, who sang our wedding son

Holden was named from "The Catcher in the Rye," one of my all time favorite books

Reese - because she is brown and orange, like the color of reese's pieces.

Ramsey - because my DH is obsessed with Gordon Ramsay. We just changed the spelling a little.

Phoebe - I just saw the name and thought it was cute.

Molly - it was between Sophia and Molly, and DH picked Molly cause it was the name of a song he liked

Jack - it was between Jack or Hurley (LOST), and we decided Jack cause he was so full of life, and Jack sounds like a fun name

Teemu - he is a Finnish Lapphund, so DH picked the name of a Finnish hockey player.

Peanut - when we got her at 11 weeks she was 2lbs and the color of a peanut.

Since then, he name has expanded to Peanut Butter and I'm not exactly sure why.

My cat's name is Luce (pronounced Lucy)

My old cat who is no longer with us was named Cuddles. I took her name when I first got Luce and found that I was able to spell her name using letters from Cuddles' name! Kind of a little tribute to Cuddles!

Her name was Lilly to start, but it just didn't roll off of our tounge right and it didn't fit her. So we had already bought her a collar and on it was a daisy charm. I was making it bigger for her and I noticed the daisy. I looked at Joe and said Daisy...that's her name. He just smiled and said yup! So that is how Daisy Mae got her name. Mae is after our other kitty Sadie Mae who died last year. Kitty Kitty Lumpkins was a name Joe gave her as a joke, and it just stuck. I laugh when he calls her that because I can think about is Mr. Barky Von Shnauzer

Ashes because he is grey and it my funeral director humor shining through!! (his REAL name is Ashes to Ashes!!!)


Nitro because his tummy is this beige color that looks like the gas cloud that comes out of the Nitro Funny Cars at the NHRA races!!! (we tease that his real name is Nitro P. Funny Car!!)

I named our first cat Chloe because I always wanted a cat named Chloe for no good reason :P

Our second cat (see my icon) is named Lenny Briscoe after the character from Law & Order. I don't know why, he just looked like a Lenny.
