Because it's in Old Harbour Green in Massapequa. Very upscale part of the neighborhood with the oldest homes usually.

I am sure that is going to be on the market for a while.

It's all about the location, but needs a ton of work just from the 2 pic's they have on there.

Without a doubt it has to do with the area of Massapequa it is in. It is the upscale, quaint part of Massapequa...

LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. For that area it is cheap--most homes in that neighborhood sell for over 750k the only problem is that the town can issue anymore building permits in the area so it is unlikely that a builder will buy it or someone can make any major improvements to the house...the shell would have to remain.

We looked at that house many months ago. Was priced much higher than that.

For that area, that price is a steal. Also, typically a builder would buy that and just tear it down. Those houses are very old and boxy, not really nice layouts and very antiquated inside.
But as someone said, building permits are halted right now so the price has dropped to what it is (which is actually LOW for a house/property) there.

And to make matters worse, I believe that house is next to a sump. Which means for many it is not a desirable lot.

That's the house I grew up in!!!!!!

It does need lots of updates, but it is not next to a sump. It is next to a wooded area that is owned by the people that live behind it. I agree with the comment about builders tearing it down. That's pretty much what they did to all of the other houses on the block.

Personally, I think that price is a steal, considering the neighborhood!

It definitely needs work, but those are some pretty bad pictures. Not sure why the current owners chose them.Chat Icon

Ok I knew it was next to something gated and wooded. That is odd that that property is owned by the people behind it on th next block.

It's been like that forever. People would always knock on our door to ask if we owned that property and if it was for sale. They have never wanted to sell it. It was nice when I was growing up. Very private and well maintained. Same with the house. My dad took a lot of pride in caring for that house. It's a shame how the current owners have let it go.

Because the owner can't get the $665 they paid for it back in 04:
