no more snack VENT
we were told that effective today 1st graders can no longer have snack
this annoys me .. my students are used to having it now.. if you are going to do this.. do it in the beg of the year not midway through
oh and send a letter home so that I the teacher don't have to explain to all my parents why

we werent really given one.. but im sure because it interfers with learning.. since every second of our day has to be instructive..

give me a break..... could the city ever ONCE think about being DEVELOPMENTALLY APPRORIATE????? 6 year olds NEED a break and physically, they need to eat sometihng to keep them alert. Clearly none of the bone heads that make the rules have any experience in early childhood development.
My fifth graders STILL get a 20-minute snack... and it works wonders.... more time is wasted trying to keep them on task than the 20 minutes you give them to relax and re-group. they then come back ready to continue.

i absolutely agree.. its so annoying.. they just dont get it..
not to mention the fact that our students are in our room the whole day.. for preps and for lunch because of construction

that is really annoying... especially that they aren't out of your room at all for the rest of the day. they need a break!
I saw a teacher who did creative snacks that related to learning and handwriting... hmmm, I'll try to find the link... maybe you could circumvent the rule somehow!

hahahha i dont mind them not having snack a much as I mind them doing it now and not waiting until the beg of the year, they are already used to it. Plus it makes me mad that they toldus yesterday that effective immediately there is no more snack, meaning they gave us no warning about it

Being hungry interferes with learning. I hate the NYCDOE.

I give my kids snack when they want it, but i provide it and it is always healthy. My students can and do act out if they are hungry and it is not worth the time and manpower it takes to calm a child down if I can give the kid a saltine or a pretzel instead. This isnt much different than not letting a kid use the bathroom when he needs to go. I NEVER keep a kid from using the bathroom even if it interrupts the lesson for one minute. Administrative bull poop I tell you.
