Never been to the Poconos, but am curious!
We went to the BErkshire region of Mass which was very nice. The Norman Rockwell museum is up there.

ITA. There are some great ones in Greenpoint and the town is so peaceful off season.

Personally, I like summery places in the winter. Go figure. I love how deserted beach places get in the winter. Makes me feel snuggly
