buying items for twins
Do you feel that they have to have the same items or at least the same amt. of items. Like when you buy books, do you buy two of each? I have two nurseries set up, so the books are getting separated. I wonder if I would need two goodnight moons, etc. Silly but I'm trying to be fair. I find myself doing this with everything for them. Mind you, I am 33w and very hormonal right now.

Re: buying items for twins
For the first year, definitely not (as far as books and things like that go).
I find now that whatever one has, even if they DO have the same of that item, the other one wants what the other one has. Some books and toys they do have two of, but others they do not. The ones that they do not have two of, they are learning to share with.
Keep in mind too, that at one point your DC will receive gifts and they won't always be two of something. Unless you plan on running to TRU after every holiday or birthday, I wouldn't try to drive yourself nuts on planning to get two of every single thing.
Good luck!

Re: buying items for twins
As far as toys and books go I don't have any doubles. Any doubles we received went to MIL's house for when they are there. Not sure when I'll separate mine into two different rooms but for now most of their books are kept in the playroom.
I don't plan on getting two of the exact same toy unless it's a ride-on, bicycle etc. I'd need to build a wing onto my house...lol... and they have to start to learn the concept of sharing at some point even though I know they aren't capable of it yet.. Since, they are b/g I'm already going to have the full spectrum at some point. They are just now starting to take toys from each other so if one has the learning drum I try to distract the other with a similar toy, like the Fisher Price piano.
Oh, I just had a flash forward to when they are teenagers... two cellphones, two I-pods (or whatever the technical equivalent will be at that point)...

EXACTLY what Theresa said, I dont have 2 of the same toy, books, etc. I am trying to teach them how to share, and dont know if I ever will, they still grab and want what the other has.
