Another d&c question
I just had it yesterday - and I am having some pretty bad cramping right now. Hardly any bleeding. They gave me a few pills to take yesterday to make me contract. When will that pass? I came into work thinking I felt fine.

Re: Another d&c question
I think everyone's experience, post D&C is different
I had hardly any bleeding the night after my procedure, and even the next day I just spotted VERY lightly. It was actually 2 days after the DNC that the cramping got very bad and I started passing some clots (sorry for the TMI).. that went on and off for a few days. I really never bled heavily on any given day, and I finally stopped bleeding altogether about 1 week later. I was only given some strong painkillers if the cramping got too bad, no pills to make me contract.
I'm not sure if my experience was typical, or if it was because I was 13 weeks along or not -- it was just the way my body expelled the remaining tissue. I followed up with my OBGYN a week later for an exam and everything looked fine, my hcg levels went back to zero, and subsequently my body is back to normal (regular cycles, etc) Thank goodness.
A few people had told me that they hardly bled nor had much cramping after the DNC, so as I said everyone is different.
So to ease your mind, I will say that while the cramping stinks, it does sound like things are progressing normally for you. I hope you feel better soon

Re: Another d&c question
Thanks for replying and the hug. My doctor prescribed Metherigine. They are supposed to make me contract to make sure everything comes out if it didn't already. I didn't take any today thought, and I'm still having really bad cramping. I just want this to be over.

I know the feeling. It not just the pain/cramping, its just the emotions that go along with it. Everytime I went to the bathroom or had some cramping I would get upset all over again because it was just a reminder of what I was losing.. I totally TOTALLY understand you wanting this to just be over Its just so upsetting
When I was released from the hospital, they told me if the bleeding became excessive or the cramping unbearable, to call my OBGYN to follow up. You probably dont need the pills, it sounds like your body is expelling the tissue on its own.. which is a good thing in this case.
If you feel any worse, you might want to call your doctor in the morning. Good luck
