anyone deliver at south nassau in oceanside?
Hi, I think i may choose South Nassau for my delivery. Has anyone delivered there?
Any feedback?
I'm going to do the tour in a few weeks.
Thanks!

Re: anyone deliver at south nassau in oceanside?
I had my little girl at South Nassau in October and had a phenominal experience there. The hospital is spotless and modern, almost like a sleek hotel. The nurses are so patient and kind and having my own room was just amazing. They aren't strict with visiting hours so my husband was able to stay with the baby and I some nights until about 2am, which was really nice. And you can have the baby with you in your room as much or as little as you'd like.
The lactation specialists (Paula, especially) were really helpful, as I wanted to try to breastfeed and knew nothing about it. They were so patient and encouraging.
My husband and I were just talking about what a great experience we had there. I loved it so much in fact that I tried to have my ob approve another nights stay (she wouldn't!)
Please let me know if you have any specific questions that I can answer for you. Make an appt to go on a tour. Good luck!

ITA with this! I have seen the rooms in other hospitals and they were no where near as nice as South Nassau plus I liked having my own room and my own privacy.
I did not have the same experience with the lactation consultant at South Nassau though (if it is the same woman). She was actually part of the reason I wound up not sticking with breast feeding. But I wouldnt let that be your deciding factor...you can always find a lactation consultant elsewhere if you need.

Thanks! I'm so happy you both had good experiences.
I have an option to deliver at Winthrop, which i know is a good hospital, but I really love that at South Nassau everyone gets there own rooms and the visiting hours seem great!

Re: anyone deliver at south nassau in oceanside?
Had both my sons there. The first time was before renovations and I had a great experience. My son was in the NICU and received terrific care. I hear the same NICU drs are still on staff.
The second time was after renovations and it looks great and was so different and private rooms are huge and so key. I can say my care was not as great as the 1st time. It was a very busy week and I was left to my own and no personal attention like I received the first time (at one point the nurse admitted a whole shift went by and she saw in the notes no one had come by the entire to day to check in and see if I needed anything). I was kicked out earlier than they originally told me (pulled out of the shower to be told this nonetheless) due to high activity. That being said - I really do like the hospital and would go again should there be another and keep my fingers crossed for a slow week.
