Anyone get shaky if they don't eat every few hours?

I admit I dont eat 3 meals a day (probably why it is taking me longer to lose the baby weight) but I never did. But I noticed recently that after a few hours of eating, it's almost like I crash and get really shaky and need to eat again. Diabetes runs in my dad's side of the family and I am hoping this is not the case.

Yes this happens to me if I go too long without eating.

I get like that too. If I don't eat for a few hours, I get very shaky. I try to have little snacks throughout the day. Chat Icon

I get shaky, light-headed, and cranky. I eat snacks 3x a day, usually a yogurt, a piece of fruit, and a few crackers with cheese.

This happens to me as well. I've gotten light headed and felt like I was going to vomit because I didn't eat for a while.

Yes, I have low blood sugar (hypoglycemic). Dr. suggests eating six small meals a day with a LOT of protein (even just nuts, peanut butter on toast, eggs, beans etc etc). I get bad low blood sugar attacks from time to time and then I need sugar asap...I have candy in my bag at all times and lil juice boxes in the car. Those are scary spells (especially on the subways!! ) Chat Icon
Good luck!!

ETA...when you feel really shaky try some sprite or juice-it usually helps immediately. Try to avoid caffeine at those times though-that'll make you more shaky!

Re: Anyone get shaky if they don't eat every few hours?

DH does because of the blood sugar drop, and he uses it as an indicator that he should eat something.

I was just diagnosed with this too. I am trying to get it under control but I am having a hard time. I'm going to a nutritionist on Monday.

STORY OF MY LIFE!

Shaky, sweaty, nauseous, you name it. I eat 6 times a day. I have low blood sugar and diabetes is rampant in my family.

I used to get that on an off - when I had issues with being insulin resistant (before getting pregnant with DD). I luckily haven't had it since my pregnancy -

If it is a few hours after you eat it could be reactive hypoglycemia

Same here.

OP: Are you hypoglycemic? Maybe you should get tested? I was afraid I was diabetic, but after getting tested I am hypoglycemic and just need to eat smaller meals more frequently.

Re: Anyone get shaky if they don't eat every few hours?

I guess this is more common than I thought!

I get VERY shaky, nauseous, feel like I'm losing it, if I don't eat something. Sometimes I have a sudden urge for something sweet right when it starts - juice will make me feel better pretty quickly.

I had bloodwork done recently and my blood sugar was normal - diabetes runs in my family. I was told I should have a ... what is it callled? Glucose tolerance test? Or something like that? Don't remember, but I'm being treated for other stuff so the doc said we would do that in the future.

My DH swears I have something really wrong with me because how bad I get!

I have hypoglycemia too and while I don't eat small meals 6 times a day, I always munch on something.
