Opinions Please

I returned from maternity leave about a month ago. I currently work full time but I want to start working part time. I've been looking but time is limited with a new baby and work. My office has a few part timers but it's not really their policy to let people work pt. I've been here for almost 9 years and was thinking of asking my boss if i can work part time. there is a strong possibility they will say no. Do you think I should do this or just look outside for a new part time job? Thanks.

I don't think it hurts to ask. Worst case scenario is that your boss says no, then you can start looking for a P/T position.
