SLPs working in EI
I'm going to be doing supplemental work with Child Find (MD's EI). I'll be administering individual therapy to a few little ones at their daycares. They are 2.5-3 years old. I'm a nervous wreck about this- I've been working in an elementary school doing mainly pull-out therapy (even with my pre-k kids). Push in is NOT something I'm too familiar with.
What should I bring with me? I'm assuming I'll need to bring a bag of tricks.....

Re: SLPs working in EI
i am not an SLP. but I am a special educator and i push in a lot.
I would imagine at that age, if you're pushing in, your job would be to facilitate their play with the language.... ask them to give you the red ball, etc. etc. Help them with their processing and the sensory integration issues they face in the room. ALso, you can look to the teacher for guidance... perhaps when they are doing a few whole group activities, you can modify and individualize for your student.
A lot of what you will do is essentially help them navigate the language. Also, once you get acclimated and know the child, you will be better able to "plan" some 1:1 games that they can play with you while still in the daycare setting.
HOPE THIS helps a little???
