Breastfeeding twins question

I've read that with a single baby to feed them fully on one breast and then at least offer them the second breast. With twins you can't do that. At least that is what I think will happen (I'm due in 9 days). I plan on trying to eventually get them on a schedule where I nurse them at the same time. So there won't be a second breast for either of them. Has anyone had any problems with the babies still being hungry after nursing?

I never had a problem - your body produces more milk to accomodate them both.

The nurse in recovery told me to give them each their own breast so that that breast would make the necessary supply for the demand. I did that and it worked out well.

The lactation nurse told me that our bodies are capable of
feeding up to 4 babies!

i am still ebfing my twins (9mos) and i make plenty of milk for them both!! they are growing like crazy!!

i switch sides with each feeding. for example at 6 am feeding, dd is on right side and ds is on left. at next feeding, ds is on right and dd is on left. i was told that this will help keep your breasts balanced more, because if you have a more efficient sucker and always put him/her on the same side, you will be lopsided. in the beginning when they were nursing more often, i might switch every two hours, instead of every feeding.

i really recommend you work on nursing them together right away. in the early days of bfing you feel like you are nursing constantly, if you nurse them separately, you really will be, because by the time the second one is finished the first one will be ready to eat again.
