? for those whose DC would not sleep on their backs or who had to be held to sleep??
My DD will only sleep if I am holding her or if I put her on her belly(in which case I stay awake to watch her). So Im not getting any sleep. If I put her on her back she will wake up within the hour. She never sleeps longer than an hour at a time on her back and it takes me putting her down several times. But on her belly or on my chest she will sleep up to 5 hours. So, my questions are: For how long did you have to hold your baby to sleep and how did it change? Did you keep trying to put them down every night and then just eventually give in and hold them? One day were you just able to put him/her down on their back? Im afraid that if I end up holding her every night to sleep that she will never sleep on her own. Does anyone have any tips on how I can DD to sleep longer? BTW she is 12 weeks old. Thanks!

DD wouldn't sleep on her back either so at 8 weeks I put her to sleep on her belly... I have a 2 year old and was a zombie b/c I couldn't get any sleep! She started sleeping thru the night (inconsistently) right after I did that...

DS was like this so I would just put him down on his belly & he slept much better. Now he's 6 mo & will sleep on his back or belly. I would do whatever works so you can get some sleep.
DS never liked to be swaddled but maybe that will work for you

I was going to suggest this. Although DS never had an issue sleeping on his back, I would have problems putting him down because he would startle himself awake with his arms. Now that I swaddle, I get him down 1st time almost all the time!
Its worth a try. Also will she sleep in the swing? I know plenty of moms whose kids would only sleep in the swing or car seat to start out....

I also recommend to swaddle dc. My dd also likes to be held, so I swaddle her and put her on her back. She will give me between 3 and 5hrs of sleep. Good luck!
