Re: 3D sono ...are they safe?
My Dr signed my release to get it done. I have a cousin who was high risk and had several during her pregnancy. Baby is here and fine.

only the ones that are done at a radiology site or in a docs office. the ones that are now franchises are not proven to be safe yet.

Do you know the difference in the machines? Ive heard the reasoning behind not going to the franchise ones is that they are for entertainment only, not diagnostic, no medically trained techs.

I've never heard this either. As long as a trained professional is doing it, it is OK.

thats correct, thde machones they use are not certified and regulated by radiological medical services and it is unsure if the rays from th emachones could be harmful ot baby or Mom down the road.

yeah, but that is the probelm, they are not trained MEDICAL professionals at the franchises, they are people that are just taught how to take a picture with the machione, they could get a job at Cost-co processing pictures just as easily as they can do this 3D sono job. I think it;s quite scary and always feared that if I got it done in years to come they would link it to some illness, disease, etc.

Re: 3D sono ...are they safe?
I just had mine done this past weekend and I know a few girls on here that had them done as well. I am not saying they are totally safe but I can tell you that the machine they used on me was the same GE machine the specialist used to do a fetal echo at Stonybrook. It's a personal decision. I would ask your medical professional their opinion. Mine said the machine is universally calibrated(meaning the settings are pre-programmed) and the same risks apply as having it done in a Dr's office.
