MOH and TTC?

I have been talking to DH about TTC for about 6 months now. He really hasnt been ready, but last night said something about me being pregnant "next year". I would love this, but I am the MOH in my best friends wedding in October 06. I know she is upset at the idea of anyone in her bridal party being pregnant, (she has several bridemaids that are trying right now). Do you think it would be wrong of me to TTC and possibly be pregnant at her wedding? It kills me to think of waiting another whole year before trying!

Re: MOH and TTC?

I think it's entirely your decision. My bestest friend ended up PG in my wedding (7 months along) and I didn't care. I was so happy for her and I was the one who was afraid she'd back out.

I would never base my decision to start a family on someone elses opnion.

Would you be devastated if you did get PG and then she asked you to step down as MOH????

I don't think she would ask me to step down. I think she would just be upset. She is the last to marry of all our friends. We are all talking about families and she is so afraid everyone will end up pregnant. I just feel like she would be hurt. However, if I can get DH on board for definitely TTC, then I truly want to go for it. Just feel like it would make me a bad friend.

I wouldn't feel bad about wanting to take a new step in your life. I would hope that she could be happy for you. I know some people have different feelings on things. I would go with what you feel is right for you. Sorry if I'm no help.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I wouldn't put off TTC because you are in someone's wedding. If you are pregnant while you are the MOH, it won't be a big deal. Hopefully you will get pregnant right away, but if you wait because of the wedding and then it takes you a while to conceive, you might wish you started earlier. So I would TTC when you and DH are ready. Good luck!

Consider it a blessing if you're able to get pregnant right away and don't let anything or anyone ever get in the way of your family. Take it from someone who has spent over three years TTC. Baby Dust! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

It would not make you a bad friend, BUT it would make her a bad friend if she got upset with you because of it.

Christy....whose wedding are we talking about?! Chat Icon

Seriously, I think you should do what's right you and DH....it would make me super happy as a bride if I had a pregnant BM, not "upset." Just order your gown a few sizes larger and see what happens!

Re: MOH and TTC?

As past brides we all thought the world revolved our wedding, we know now it doesn't. I wouldn't put off TTC because of her wedding. And i took my own advice:) I would just try to skip the month that would put you 9 months pg and about to give birth the month of her wedding cause then you may have to drop out.

I am the MOH in my SIL's wedding in March and will be 33 weeks pg. She was soo excited she was going to be an aunt! I ordered my dress way bigger than my size at when I was about 8 weeks pg.

Re: MOH and TTC?

You cant revolve your life around other people, if you two are ready, then go for it, because you you cant put your life on hold for one day for someone.

Re: MOH and TTC?

Thank you all so much! I appreciate the responses on what might seem like a silly question. Oddly enough, my friend called me today to say that another one of her BM's is trying too! I didn't come clean that I may be as well. She got too upset. I just think I will hold off on telling her until DH and I decide for sure, and actually have some news to report.

Re: MOH and TTC?

I feel very strongly that you should not put ff TTC for this. Just because she is getting married does not mean YOUR life should stop. You are still her friend if you are pregant and will still be in her party being there for her. I think she really has no right to make such a big deal about this- you have a right to live you life!

Re: MOH and TTC?

to put starting a family on hold just to be apart of a wedding party is silly. My cousin was 8 months pregnant at my wedding. My cousin offered to drop out if I didn't want her pregnant belly in my wedding photos....but I wouldn't hear of it. I love my cousin and her new baby very much...and their being apart of my big day was much more important to me...then how photos looked....and the photos of her pregnant belly are adorable....in my mind they didn't ruin anything...her belly added Charm and a real family feeling to pur pictures.

I wouldn't wait. If my friend couldn't be happy that I was pregnant I don't know if I could be happy to be in her wedding but that's just me.

Re: MOH and TTC?

I am in the same position, my cousin is getting married in August and I am one of the bridesmaids... although we are not focusing on TTC, we are not focusing on not having a baby either, just seeing what happens... anyways, I have been thinking about it and I just cant put my life on hold because she is getting married...

Christy--yep, I remember her. She is your best friend! The thought of you being preggo should make her elated, not relate it right back to her wedding. My best friend and BM was thinking about getting preg before my wedding and told me March "wouldn't work for her" because she'd be huge and how could I do that. Friends rock sometimes, huh? Mind you, she's divorced, and thank god she didn't have kids with him.

It can be so crazy sometimes. The truth is, I haven't said anything to her. I don't see a point unless I have to. However, I just know how she is taking others ttc while in her wedding. Maybe it would be different coming from me. Like I said, DH isnt even 100% ready yet. So, this may not be an issue at all. We'll see.

Wow that is rough that she asked you to wait. I dont know why people think that is okay. My friend didnt ask me to wait. I just know she wouldnt love it if I were PG for her wedding.
