I'm scheduled for surgery
Next Wed I'm having lapo for the cyst on my left ovary and to clear out the endometriosis. The doctor is also going to flush out my tubes, even though I had an HSG in Oct and everything was clear. He said that I'm going to be out for a max of 6 weeks, but with my job he said maybe 4. I had lapo done when I had my gallbladder removed, but never for this. Has anyone else have this type of surgery? If so, what was your recovery like? I plan on spending 2 weeks at my parents house because I won't be able to climb stairs since I live on the 3rd floor with no elevator. I just can't wait to get this over with. I got my supply of injectable last week, so I'm set for my next cycle.

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
I guess I'm a little confused . I too am having a lap this month, but doctor said I will be out just one week. Why would you be out so long. A lap is suppose to be an easier recovery then opening you up.

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
I just had a lap 3 weeks ago to have both fallopian tubes removed. I was at a hockey game the next night. Maybe it's because I've had 3 of them and a c-section already, but honestly, I think the recovery from the lap is pretty easy. You will be a little sore at the incision sites and at your belly button. But I was up and around right away. Climbing stairs in my house the night of the surgery and the next day. It's a little uncomfortable but totally doable.
I had pains from the gas they pump into your abdomen all the way up to my chest and shoulder, but the best way to be rid of that is just tons of water and moving around. My doc told me I could resume normal activities except lifting the next day...he's very aggressive. The nurse told me to give it a week.
Honestly, after a week, I felt really good. Good Luck to you!

The reason my RE said that it would be a max of 6 weeks is because he wants to make sure that I heal properly. Since I have a desk job where I don't have to do a lot of lifting, he said that I might be able to go back to work in 4 weeks. I think he's being overly cautious. When I had my gallbladder taken out, I was out a little over a week. I guess every doctor is different.

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
Good luck and a speedy recovery sweetie!! I had a cyst surgically removed and a lap for endo at 2 separate times. The recovery for both was minimal. After a couple days I was back to myself. The lap was worse than the cyst removal though,

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
I'm with everyone else. I was good in 3 days after my lap this summer. There's a trick to not having the gas pains....put a pillow under your knees when lying down after recovery. I hardly had any pain. For 6 weeks I was not allowed to do anything strenuous (like lifting and exercising). But, I was fine going up and down the stairs by day 2. But, I did get help for the first 3 days (my wonderful parents stayed over and took care of me so DH could work).

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
I had Lap surgery back in 2005. That night after surgery I was at Walmart shopping. I was a little sore and had the pain from the gas in my shoulder, but other than that I was fine. I went back to work the next day. Good luck!

Re: I'm scheduled for surgery
Everyone is different with surgerys, i have had 4 lapos for my endometriosis and each surgery had a different recovery time. It just depends on how much they remove and how long they take on the surgery. My last lapo took 3 hours to complete and i was not allowed to do any heavy lifting, i could do minimal activity for at least 4 weeks, after that time i went back to work (desk job) and day by day i was able to move about more freely.
Good Luck
