Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
My SIL got Maddie some clothes there for Xmas that were too small. I returned them and could find nothing in the store that I a) liked b) would pay more than $10 for
I chalked it up to the particular store( Commack) It was messy, unorganized and empty -ish, so I held on to the credit. Today I went to the one in Plainview. I don't get it, I just don't. The clothes are incredibly overpriced, cheap looking, ill fitting and some of it is just ugly IMO. Its all the stuff I used to wear in jr high school- tie dye, embellished.... Its like 1988 in there. I ended up buying some crocs and calling it a day. SIL raves about this store, and my neices always look cute. Am I the only one who doesn't get it?

I was only there once, spent 5 minutes in the store and left. I wasn't that impressed.

I feel the same way. We used to live in an apartment that was right next door to the one in Little Neck and after seeing the stuff in there I've never had any desire to shop there again, and I live pretty close to the Bellmore store.

Re: Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
DH's friend's wife bought an $80 outfit for DH's first birthday. I didn't like it and thought it actually looked trashy. I went to exchange it and had a difficult time finding anything I liked. Although I have seen kids wearing cute clothes from Denny's - I guess I just couldn't spot those when I went to the store.

Maybe it depends on which store you shop in. Although I love their stuff - I love little rhinestones on shirts. I don't go for the really fru-fru stuff, but they have cute outfits for kids I think. I also get DD"s little karate pants there, that are so comfy looking - and I think they run around $8-9 each.

Same for me. I went to the one in Plainview and one here in NJ and nothing. I like their boys stuff better, but still never left with anything.

I have to say, I don't get it either. When one opened recently here in Oceanside, I went in expecting to be impressed, and I was not. Maybe it's because I was looking at boy clothes and the girl clothes are the ones that people rave about? Just seemed disorganized and overpriced.

I personally love tie dye and rhinestones...DD looks so cute in their outfits... I don't spend tons of money there either... I love the stretchy pants and american apparel shirts... I can always find cute clothes there...

I actually find more things there for my son than my daughter. I think it can be a hit or miss there and some of the prices are crazy!

Re: Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
For me - its VERY hit or miss, and I only go in there when they are having one of their HUGE sales - like 75% off. and then I bought stuff I would get anywhere, but for 5 dollars, so it worked out... i like Lesters much better, but I also only buy things on sale...

I don't really like the one in Little Neck, but the one in Plainview is great. I agree, certain brands are just plain ugly or trashy looking. But I tend to always buy the same few brands, and end up with great things for my DD and my nephew.

Just like a lot of stores it appeals to some people and doesn't appeal to others. Everyone has a different style.

Not a fan either. I thought most everything looked cheap and it isn't. I have no problem spending money if I like something but I just never do there. I never got the appeal.
The one in Bellmore is right near my house - I had a gc for a year and a store credit and had to use it or they'd expire. I bought gloves and found a couple cute t-shirts but I had such a hard time using it. Stinks because it is really so close to me.

Re: Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
I like Dennys. I think it is the only store left on Long Island where you can make an appointment and have someone walk you through the entire process of putting together a baby layette. When I was pregnant and sick it was great to get it all in one place. I was not having a shower. They have sheets and towels and things that are not on display. They have some brands of clothing that I have not seen in other stores. They have those cute socks that look like shoes. A lot of their baby outfits have matching blankets and they make great gifts. I do not think I shop there just to say that I shop at Dennys because a lot of people I know don't live near a Dennys and have never heard of it. Also, I am just as quick to show people something I like from Old Navy.

Re: Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
I go to the on in Plainview. I went to Commack once and didn't care for it.
I love the little trendy stuff for Ava. A lot of it is way overpriced, but I will spend for special occasions. Also, if you go to a "Crazy Sale", you can get good bargains.
We live in West Islip, and most of the Moms don't seem very label conscious around here, but when I take Ava out by my Mom or my cousins house, everyone Ava's age (3) has UGGS and boutique clothing.
While I enjoy Dennys, I also LOVE,LOVE,LOVE Once upon A Child in Massapequa. I find a ton of "used" clothing that you can find at Denny's. Last summer, I got Ava a ton of these adorable tye-dye and rhinestone tanks for like $5, I went to Denny's a week later and they were selling them for $30..

Totally agree with this statement....
I shop there, live across the street from Plainview and like the clothes when there is crazy sale or when I have special occasion... It is better for girls than boys... I like to to keep up with the trends and they have very trendy stuff there... Again this is JMO..

Re: Can someone explain to me the appeal of Denny' childrenswear stores?
I like Denny's - I think they have cute clothes that you don't necessarily see in all the other stores. They are DEF. overpriced though so I will shop there when they have their sales.
My only issue with Denny's is the sizing. Jack is so big - that I never know what size to get him - and they haven't been so helpful there in helping me figure it out. And, I also find - that if he wears something once - and I wash it - there is no shot it's getting back on his body bc it always shrinks.
