Yes they are a member of citigroup. I attended the orientation and have researched the company online. The company was on the cover of a magazine called Success from Home published in 2005. At this point it sounds legit. I am looking to move foward with the company part-time.

Yes u have to pay a one time fee of $100 which includes a background check, materials for the classroom, and they help you prepare for the 3 core licensces, Mortgage, Life insurance and money market/mutual funds certifications. You will be certified in NYS. Field training is also required so you go out with the person a total of 6x (3 of them he does the appts/the other 3 you do the appts). Continuing one-on-one mentorship. The training is from 30-90 days depending on availability. You earn while you learn.
Going to a meeting tonight to meet other p/t in long island and also attend a guest speaker. So I havent given any money yet we will see tonight based on the feedback from other agents. Basically the person i have spoken to is only looking for someone to work 8-15hrs a week.

Re: primerica financial services
the only thing that raises a flag for me- is you don't need a Lic to be a mortgage banker or broker
you work under the company Lic- there is no NYS lic for that
I know for insurance you have to take a test- I was going to take it and it was more the $100 ($300 maybe)- so make sure there are no additonal fees for these Licenses

Yes your right i meant the license for the life insurance is required the other two are just a additional certifications not licenses. The life insurance fee is $63 and this is reimbursed by the company once you pass the exam. The life insurance is 40hrs (20hrs home study and 20hrs classroom) which is 2 wknds and one weeknight.

Re: primerica financial services
I don't think I would work for them, but I know I love my Primerica rep. DH and I have our life insurance through them, as well as some of our other investments. I think it's a pyramid kinda-thing, but I'm not sure.

Re: primerica financial services
Someone just called me from there tonight about running one of their offices. I didnt know what the name of the company was until I looked up the address. Now that I know it is Primerica I dont think I am going to go for the interview on Wednesday.....

Re: primerica financial services
I got liscensed to do primerica, but it just wasn't for me. There is a lot of recruiting and begging people to sign up and thats just not my style.
To scott above- i doubt that you are being called for an "interview" thats not how primerica works. You'll go in, watch some video and then they will try and get you to sign up, which costs 250 bucks...
The people who "run" the offices, are the wons who have worked themselves up the "pyramid".
I would say it wouldn't hurt giving it a shot, at least go and listen and then make your decision. Some people are really successful at it, but if you kind of shy away from this "telemarketer" vibe i wouldn't go for it.
My brother is the one who "recruited" me, and even though i didn't want to stick with it, he has and is making money doing so.

Re: primerica financial services
I spoke to the guy on the phone this morning and told him I was wasnt interested. He said come in anyway, you will get something out of it. I said I didnt want to waste my time. He then asked if I could give him names and phone numbers of other people that may be interested, and I said absolutely not. Scott

On another point, they were going to hire my sister, who, as much as I love her, is completely inept with anything financial. She has no concept of the value of money, future value of money, determining interest rates, etc. That raised a big old flag for me.

Re: primerica financial services
i didn't get far with this company- i stopped attending the mtgs. It was too complicated with all the "financial terms" it was becoming a headache-- i know someone else that i met at the mtgs stopped going after taking the test a few times and failing..

Re: primerica financial services
I would give it a try if you are a good sales person. My DH does it pt and makes very good money from it. Im not sure what everyone is talking about - he paid a 1 x fee of 25.00 for the materials in class and 100.00 for the license. He didnt have to recruit anyone either. It is very legit.

Re: primerica financial services
i thought this was some sort of multi-level marketing thing, were you have to get other people to sign up underneath you for you to move up and make $$

I have to disagree...recruiting is how you make money. You "recruit" people to work under you, and make a percentage of what they make. I'm not saying you can't make money-you can...
i paid 250 dollars to join. It's really 1000, but they pay 750 and you pay the remainder. This is how it was at the Oakdale office. You have to be a self starter and not be afraid to call people, ask them for references, and be slightly annoying. YOU can make money at this...its just not my thing.
