I am so sorry. 
I just had the same thing happen. I did IVF though so they knew exactly how far along I should be. Did they do blood work? That's how my dr. was able to confirm the pregnancy was not viable. Based on my first blood test, my levels should have been close to 24,000 but they were only around 300.
I'm a little confused though, what are you considering seeing a specialist for?

I'm sorry . I went through the same thing this summer with a blighted ovum. If you are going to have a d&c you may wnat to test the POC. GL!! Keep trying.
