All of this talk having ONE CHILD...

It seems like there are many moms on here that are reconsidering having more than one child, myself included. I always thought I wanted 2 but my life seems complete with my son and DH.

I feel like I am cheating my son with being an only but question whether I want another one.

My question for you is..if you are reconsidering having more than one child what is making you question that?

I have always wanted one child but DH wanted two so we will be having a second child in another year or so.

Re: All of this talk having ONE CHILD...

We are having one of our own based upon age--I'm too worried about birth defects at this point, and it would just be hard to have another baby quickly and run after the two of them. I'm really not up to it.

But, we love DS and it's not a new idea, but we are leaning a little more strongly toward adopting when DS is a little older. I'd love to have another child, just not as quickly as I would need to if we had our own.

We always said we would have just one and are so happy with the three of us. I'm not really sure that I could handle it with my back issue but DH has said that maybe we could think about it in 2 years or so.

Re: All of this talk having ONE CHILD...

We have always talked about having 2-3 kids, but I had complications last months of pregnancy and had to got to the hospital and be on meds ,plus recovery from a C-section was just so hard, so I don't know if I can go through it again, the other reason is that my cardiologist doesn't think it would be a good idea to have another baby for few years and I would rather not be prego and have a baby when I am over 30(I'm 27)
I have to say though watching my DD grow up , sometimes I think I would love to have another baby soon maybe a boyChat Icon she is just such a joy , but I also don't think it would be fair to her( I know it sounds silly) I love her so much and I don't know if I can share that love with another child.

Well, having a collicky little spiritmonster certainly never helped. That's why we waited so long to TTC again, which I now regret because we're now having difficulties conceiving.

At this point, our main motivation for having another child though, is to get back at our daughter Chat Icon Chat Icon Revenge will be oh-so sweet Chat Icon

Re: All of this talk having ONE CHILD...

I was so determined to have two, back to back, but with complications from the epi during labor, it's making me think twice.

We have IF issues and are grateful for the one that we have, but there are days when I want to have another one, and days when I think that DS makes our family complete.

I too am concerned about birth defects because of our ages, so we need to make a decision within the next few months.

Re: All of this talk having ONE CHILD...

DH has two sons in addition to our son together. I went into our marriage knowing that DH only wanted one more child. He went into the marriage knowing that I always wanted two children of my own. I thought this would be a big issue for us. After having DS (11 months), I feel totally complete. DS isn't an only child because he has his two half brother who adore him and he them (ages 8 and 11). I always wanted two close in age, his brothers are older, but brothers nonetheless. Also, I am a HUGE worrier. I worry that if I push my luck, I won't be so lucky to have another healthy baby. I am not "go with the flow" at all. I stress about everything. I feel like I couldn't emotionally or physically handle two children plus two step-children. Also, I am afraid that four children would put DH over the edge with stress and our family/marriage would suffer. I just hope that having one child isn't something I come to regret later.
