Anyone Know How I CAn Get

a grant???? how do i go about that? i would like to open a business with one or two other girls and we would like to get a grant.

anyone know anything about this? i am clueless. thanks

i also hear about free seminars on opening a business????

Hey Girl....

You probably can't get a grant- you could get a small business loan- depending upon where you open your shop there are different incentives for opening in different locations of NYC.

The US Government does have small business loans- but those do have to be guarnteed with an asset (meaning if you default on the loan you have something to pay it back).

You can get a bank loan, but you would need to prove that your business would be able to pay the loan back.

To prove this- you would need to show 3-5 years of financial projections, on the conservative side.

If you are planning to open a shop, you need to know how big, how much you expect to sell a day- how many people would come in, if it's a reasonable assumption in that area, etc.

I just went through all of this with my own business plan (for something similar to what you probably want to open)..

You should start by taking a course - I took an Adult Ed. course at the local H.S. and it was extremely informative.

Also try getting a meeting with a counselor at The NY Small Business Development Center -

They didn't help me so much because I already had abusiness plan and client base but they have info and seminars...

Grants are very hard to come by.
