Ok, cannot get in touch with my dr.'s office...

Their phone is always busy, which makes me a little nervous. How much water do I need to drink for an external sonogram?

I'm 12 weeks. I don't know. I'm all confused. No one there ever tells me what's going on. I love my doctor but HATE the peopel in the officeChat Icon

That sounds very familiar.... it's like the ASSUME that you know what is going on! Chat Icon

I had to drink water with my son, but when I had my daughters sono, they said I didn't need to do that anymore, I guess it depends....Sorry I can't be more of a help!

No, that's ok. Sometimes it's silly to ask these questions on here because every doctor is different and everyone's body is different. I think I will just drink a lot of water and if they don't need me filled with it, then, well, we know what I can do when I get thereChat Icon

I just hate that they assume I know everything. This is my first pregnancy, how can I possibly know what's going on unless they tell me?Chat Icon

ah, I remember that one. Don't go too crazy drinking too much water. I ended up having to jump off the table when I had mine done for my eldest son. The tech was like "Wow your bladder is full" lol and the second she put that prod over in that area, I almost exploded on the table. I think I drank 16 ounces. While I was pregnant, the last thing I wanted to do was drink water because all I did was PEE!

That's probably your best bet, a pregnant lady can ALWAYS pee!!
It's frustrating when they don't fill you in, I found that I had to ask about EVERYTHING, and I didn't think I should've had to do that!

I felt the same way, the only thing to do is to ask a lot of questions.. With the 12 week I went to Madonna and they told me I did not have to drink water, but I had my bottled water with me because I knew I would be waiting... When the level 2 came they told me to drink a certain amount of water in a certain amount of time then they did the external, but then they may tell you to empty your bladder and that's when they do the internal, to check the cervix, fluid, placenta.. Every dr is different and I felt the exact same way you did, I even said something to the desk (this is my first baby I have no idea what I am doing), they felt silly after that and were very apologetic...
