Yoga
I really would like to start yoga....
I am looking for a (VERY) beginner's class somewhere in the Lynbrook, Valley Stream, Rockville Centre, Oceanside area. Any recommendations?
TIA

Re: Yoga
You may want to check your school district. My school district (in Suffolk) offers very discounted classes.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked, and currently, it's not being offered.

Re: Yoga
6 Bikram is the hot yoga, right?
I just tried Hatha yoga last week and I am a beginner. I found it just right for me. I also do Pilates on the reformer at least twice a week.
I can't suggest a place though b/c I don't live on LI.

Re: Yoga
The Kundalini Yoga class offered through the T/O Hempstead Dept. for Parks and Recreations is very good. When I used to take the class it was offered in Merrick. (I was living in Lynbrook and the drive wasn't bad. It was at a golf place. I can't remember what it was called.) I wish that I still lived there so I could take that class

Re: Yoga
I don't have a recommendation but a couple suggestions:
so a search on Yahoo - click on "local" on the home page, put in your zip code and then just put "yoga" in the search. It should bring up all the yoga studios in your area. Then you can visit them and see what you think.
Or
Join a gym that has classes. Right now, I just belong to a gym and go there for the classes. The classes are limited (they only have three per week but they basically fit my schedule) but it costs half the price of a yoga studio. I really like my instructors and the people taking the classes are great too.
Good luck!

Re: Yoga
i take yoga at my gym (xsport) and really like the instructors. they also have yoga-fusion classes that i've never taken, but people rave about them!
i used to belong to a studio in woodbury and it was bikram yoga. that's hot yoga, i loved it, but it's very expensive and honestly got boring. it's the same poses in the same order for an hour and a half every time.
i now like that i can do cardio and yoga in the same place and that it's much cheaper!
good luck, i love yoga!
