I have to decide what to put in this. What does everyone put in every pay period if you dont mind me asking? I was thinking 50?

I put in $125 per paycheck. I know people who put a lot more in, but that's all I can put in for right now.

how old are you?
ive been told that at a younger age you should be maxing it out. But i forget what that percentage is.
if anything i wouldnt do anything less that $100

if thats the long island version of the tax deferred annuity that we have in the city schools, i put away 13%- comes out to about $420 a month

ok so i talked to my mom who has one at her job. she suggested i put in 150 per pay period since iam not making that much-its only sub pay. We live on DH's income anyway, so I can put in that.

it depends on how you invest... you need to sit down and talk with someone from the firm that is managing your distict's plan. when you're young, it's good to be aggressive as you have time to suffer any losses... it all really evens out in the end. but in this market, i would be more conservative until we get out of this recession.
you won't lose your money... you just have the potential to earn more or possibly lose some depending on how it's invested.
