Anyone a High School Special Ed Teacher??

My daughter is entering 9th grade next year and I have to decide between progams for her...

One program is a self contained general curriculam program, which is what she is in now. Or the Life Skills program...

It's so tough to make this decision. Do they offer academics in the Life Skills program??

Please FM me.

I will try to FM you tonight.... if I don't, please remind me. a lot depends on what her level of functioning is. there is a big difference between a curriculum based program and a life skills program.

In my district, a life skills program only allows the students to get an IEP diploma. This will effect college plans. You may want to keep her in the other class to push her towards a local diploma.Chat Icon

I agree. There is a very big difference between a curriculum based and a life skills program. I would go with with the professionals are recommending based upon her level of functioning and needs. You could request updated assessment to get the most recent snapshot on how she's doing.
