Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
Well mostly because they have the folic acid which prevents spinal cord defects if taken regularly before you are pg. The other vitamins are good for you but not NEEDED like really really NEEDED>

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
I am on them, but I take the Target brand.
My Dr. didn't even offer to give me a prescription. He just told me to get any vitamin formulated for "prenatal".
I would compare the ingredients in your prescribed brand to the OTC brands. I know a lot of girls have done that and switched to the generic without a problem. Often I think they are very similar.
Although, I think I remember you posting that you had a sensitive stomach, so it's possible that the brand / type you were prescribed is specially formulated for that.
HTH!

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
My gyn gave me a script but she also gives me like 2 months of samples and tells me to call for me samples first before I fill the rx.
ETA: That my gyn said that I should take the pre-natals for the Folic acid. She said any mutil vitamin will do as long as it has 400 mg of folic acid in it.

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
how many months is that for? my doc gave me a script that was $80 but it was for 3 months and i know i need the extra folic acid because i am anemic already, it is expensive but you want to make sure you have enough folic acid especially at first, you could take an over the counter one or even a folic acid supplement with your regular multi vitamin

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
I think the brand I use is Nature Life or something like that.
Anyhow..it is just OTC....I would not do or pay for the prescriptions until I was PG or if I was severely deficient in some areas.

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
I take Citranatal DHA & it is $100 for a 3 month supply (with my insurance). I tried them with the samples my OB gave me & I had no side effects (some say you can get constipated or even sick) so I figured it was worth paying the $$ if it worked. I have been on them for a year...

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
I take the Rainbow light. I showed it to my OB and she said there was no need for her to write a script for something else.

What insurance do you have. I am on Primacare 1 (has the DHA) and it costs me $50/month. I dont care, but ?I was wondering why yours was so inexpensive.

Re: Is anyone on Pre-Natal Vitamins??
I take the PrimaCare 1 - it costs $25 a month, but that is what I was paying for my birth control, so I guess it evens out.
If you order your Rx from caremark, you can get a 3 month supply for the price of 2 - so that could save you some $

I actually thought they made a mistake quoting me the price, so I called the insurance company to verify... I have insurance with the PBA... (I'm a Police Officer) I guess the one perk is good insurance....
