Has anyone gotten a mole/beauty mark shaved or removed?
I have one on my face that the dr. wants to address. He wants me to look for a plastic surgeon as long as insurance covers it or a dermatologist.
How do they do it and was it painful?
Did it leave a scar?

I had a bunch of very small moles removed from my neck a few years ago. I went to my dermatologist and told him I wanted them removed, he injected them to numb me, and cut them off with a razor, it took less than 2 mins, and I have no scars. It really did not hurt at all, I am the biggest baby in the world, and did not even flinch.

I had one taken off during a bigger surgery with a plastic surgeon. I wore a bandage or a few days and then it was just a little red.
After about two weeks you couldn't tell anything.
Now its 2 years later and there is a faint white spot that folded by my nose.

Yes, I had one on my face removed which required stitches. He did an excellent job that the scar follows my smile marks. There is a small scar, but I will take the scar ANY day over the mole I had there...
I also have had some shaved (legs). Not painful, and they left a small mark (again, nothing compared to what was there)

If it is on your face I would have it removed by a plastic surgeon if your insurance covers it - only b/c they can leave small scars.
I have had three removed one on my back, one on my arm and one on my upper leg. They all left small scars. My grandmother and parents have had one or more removed and they all used plastic surgeons - if it wasn't on your face but a part of the body you wouldn't mind having a small scar I would say go with a dermatologist.

I had a student who had one removed with in a short time you could not see the mark at all anymore.
