Social Anxiety Disorder?

long time poster with an anon name, obviously.

does anybody here suffer from Social Anxiety? ever treated for it?
does anybody happen to know if u'r primary doctor can prescribe meds or is therapy required?

The combination of therapy and antidepressant medication is the best treatment for social anxiety disorder.

Me. I am currently on Cymbalta for it, as well as for some other anxiety issues I have. I honestly can say that I feel like a new person now. I used to feel like people were all staring at me or laughing at me, I'd have major anxiety about going to social functions, to the point where I'd hyperventillate on the way there. It was terrible. It's pretty much gone now that I'm on the Cymbalta. I'd say the only thing that still lingers is my really bad ability to look people in the eyes while talking to them. But I think that's a bad habit I need to work on. Hang in there, if you ever need to talk, feel free to FM me.
