sent home from work....UPDATE
why u ask? apparently there is fifth's disease at my school in the 4th and 2nd grade.....my doc was ok with that bc i teach 6th but when i called her today bc there was a child with suspicious symptoms of it in my class and i called my doc immediately she picked up the phone and didnt say hello or anything she just said "GO HOME!"....thank god i have a scheduled appt today so i get to see and talk to her in person.....i wonder how this works now, am i gonna be out until iuts "all clear"??? oh well i guess ill find out at my 4oclock appt
eta btw please send some prayers and good thoughts that everything is fine and i didnt get this? im a lil scared right now
UPDATE: so my doctor said that i should go back to work bc i was already exposed to it and bc there isnt much to prevent it, she gave the for instance that if i was pregnant and my first child had the disease what would i do leave home? so i saw her point and laughed. she also said that the cold and cough that i have is allergies bc if it had anything to do with fifths i would have joint pain muscle aches and a fever those are the key symptoms......soooooooooooo she is sending me to my glucose test next week and she is making them give me the fifths virus blood test along with it....and from then on she will do the fifths blood test until i end the school yr just to make me feel better and i was so nervous and still am a lil scared but i know shes right and i trust her ....thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts ladies

awww jen... i am sure you are fine if you didn't come into contact with the kid, and you probably had it when you were a kid and didn't even know it! (it's common in kids). the baby is most likely just fine but your dr. can do a blood test if you want to be 100% sure

oh thanks so much girls! im so scared right now, i know its probably coincendence but i have like a cold for two days now so im glad im going to see her bc i just want to know for sure everything is ok.....what scared me is that she said that im not immune to it which i believe means i never had it,  just nervous....continue praying girls.....ill update after i come home

I'm sure the doc can do a blood test and test your immunity to fifths disease.
But hang in there, I'm sure you'll be ok!

do you know if you are immune or not....if you dont know, I am sure your dr will send you for the blood test...
in my school, if you are not immune to fifths, and its in the school, then you are sent to district office until it it safe for you to return...i think they have to find another placement for you...I dont think they can make you use your sick days (i am not 100% though).
just be careful....5ths is running rampant in my school, but luckily I am immune...I hope the same is true for you!

I'm sure everything will be ok, it's a good thing you went home though. I know how you feel too, I'm always worried about catching something icky since I am around so many kids all day. I teach Kindergarten which is the worst....it's like teaching inside of a petri dish!!!
