Wish I wasn't so nervous

I just found out that I am pregnant (about 4 weeks). I am so nervous that something is going to go wrong. This is going to be an extremely long few weeks. I have a dr appointment on friday to confirm that I am pregnant - maybe that will make me feel a little better.

I agree. The first few weeks make everyone nervous but I just kept telling myself that I have a greater chance of everything being fine than anything being wrong. Before you know it you will be in the 2nd trimester and then time just flies!!! Congrats and welcome!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Wish I wasn't so nervous

It's completely normal to be nervous. I'm not usually a nervous person, but I've been very nervous since I got my BFP. I can't even count the number of times I check my boobs each day to see if they're still sore. Chat Icon Hang in there. Chat Icon

Re: Wish I wasn't so nervous

I think most women feel nervous. Especially in the first trimester. I didn't start calming down until week about week 17.

I am trying to not think about it, but it's so hard! I guess it is totally normal though, so that makes me feel better.

Re: Wish I wasn't so nervous

I'm right there with you. It's such an intricate process, and it's a little unnerving to think of all of the possibilities that it won't work out.

I just tell myself, I'm going to try to be as positive as possible, and if something happens--I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. Hopefully I will never come across that bridge along my journey. Chat Icon

Re: Wish I wasn't so nervous

It's absolutely normal to be nervous. I know I was when I first found out because you think of all the bad things that can happen. Miscarriage was always on my mind, but remember 90% of miscarriages happen before you even get a positive pregnancy test. I think I started to relax when I was 20 weeks! I knew I was halfway there and it made me feel a whole lot better. Just take it easy and if talking about it helps then feel free to do so! Oh BTW congrats!!!Chat Icon

Congratulations!! Chat Icon

I was extremely nervous also. I really didn't ease up until I finished the first trimester at 14 weeks. I wish I could have been calmer, but I just wanted this baby so badly. Its hard to stay calm when so many emotions are going through you. But, its not good for the baby to get too upset or stressed.

The things that worked best for me was prenatal yoga and acupuncture. They both gave me a sense of control and well being.

Re: Wish I wasn't so nervous

I am so nervous too, and I'm just about 11 weeks. I think it is totally normal. It's almost like I haven't let myself fully enjoy the pregnancy yet because I don't want to get too excited because I'm worried something will happen. I felt a little more calm after the first ultrasound but now the nervousness has returned and I am anxiously awaiting my next appointment at 12 weeks. I hope I calm down a little in the next few weeks!
