Re: Can anyone tell me about premature ovarian failure?
Premature ovarian failure, is associated with high fsh levels.
Clomid can actually increase FSH. and therefore that wouldn't work out well. Clomid tricks the body into believing it's not secreting enough estrogen and then therefore, increases the FSH levels to speed up the follicular growth.
Injectibles bypass the pituitary gland and work directly with the ovaries. POF is sometimes caused by a dysfunctional pituitary gland and even connected to auto immune issues.
Your sister should seek, a doctor who specializes in this area. There are some world renowned specialists in NY that deal with POF/high fsh....
Dr. Davis at Cornell, specializes in this area as well as Dr Nanette Santoro in the Bronx.
Acupuncture and change in diet can also help.
