NEED HELP! How Would You Answer This Email??
I applied for a position that apparently requires a 4 year degree and I don't have a 4 year degree. I apparently didn't realize this particular job required a degree as many of this company's job descriptions often state "in lieu of a degree..." and therefore applied for the job.
At any rate, someone from the company emailed me asking what degree I hold b/c it's not stated on my resume. I'm guessing what's confusing this person is that I list my college history on my resume, meaning I put down the schools I attended and the amount of credits I have at each school. I list the # of credits b/c I never graduated.
So my question is this. How the HECK do I answer the email from this person inquirying about a degree I don't have w/o sounding like a complete idiot???
I feel so stupid right now, please help.

Re: NEED HELP! How Would You Answer This Email??
really, really tricky i think. maybe something like:
Dear XXXX: I have spent extensive time studying XXX.
go into how XXXX is a passion. remind him/her of how many credits you have.
then end with:
although my degree is not yet completed, i genuinely love XXX, and I'm confident that my hard work, determination, and experience in the industry will leave me in good sted with my colleagues, and will make me an asset to the company.
IMO, if you do it this way, you are acknowledging her question but not drawing extra negative attention to yourself. if you say your degree is not yet completed, you are honest, but you are implying that you COULD complete it, even though that isn't your plan at the moment.

Yeah I agree. I think you need to focus on the experience you have regarding the relevant degree, rather than just say oops I don't have a degree.
Good luck!

This is fantastic and true! I have 11 years experience in the industry, so the fact that I don't have my degree, though a detriment, is certainly compensated for my experience. At least *I* feel this way. Thank you so much for this advice I am definitely approaching it this way.
