ETA: Ok, so I'm not sure I adequately described the texture of the poop - it is actually solid like adult poop. Is this normal? Or should it be more loose? I'm not sure if I should be giving him water to fix this? Thanks ladies!



so in the past few weeks DS's poop has changed alot - not sure if it is the solids or the fact that he is now getting more formula then BM (he was ebf until 7 mos).

His poop is very solid - like a thick paste - it is not moist or liquidity at all. Also it is obvious when he is going - he sometimes seems to be uncomfortable.

I'm used to the very loose puree looking poops of a BF baby - so i don't know if ths is normal or if he is constipated and needs more liquids like water or pear/prune juice?

Totally normal. We just went through the same thing with DD. She was EBF until about 3 weeks ago (she's 6 1/2 months now). Formula poop is totally different than breastmilk poop. Adding solids in only adds to the change.

My pediatrician said that it would likely change once she was on formula and solids and it definitely has. I used to hate the breastmilk poop, but now, I'd take it anyday! She is STINKY!

normal.. it changes more as you go along. This is going to be weird but i miss her bfed poop, it was soo much easier to clean and wasnt soo stinkie. Now with her constantly rolling over while changing, its so hard getting that stickie stuff off her quick enough.

I was thinking this last night! They are so sticky now-like paste! I am definitely going through more wipes when she does finally go. (she waits 5 days)

And, I totally agree with you about missing the easy BF poops BUT, I don't miss the occassionaly diaper explosion that used to go along with it!

Ok, I edited the original post b/c I'm not sure if I really described it right. I just am afraid his poop is too hard and it is going to hurt him
