Not sure if I should post this...but here goes. UPDATED..I am doing the heart walk on Sunday.
As some of you may know I had open heart surgery last year. Walking on Sunday for the American Heart Association heart walk is a small way for me to give back. I just decided today that I feel well enough to do this and I sent out an email to my friends and family. I am posting on here just in case anyone would like to donate. If not that is OK too.
Here's what I sent out:
As some of you may know I have been affected by congenital heart disease. For more research, those I love, and those who love me I will be walking in this year’s Start! Heart Walk. I have set a personal goal to raise funds for the American Heart Association and need your help to reach my donation goal. We are raising critical dollars for heart disease and stroke research and education.
You can help me reach my goal by making a donation online. Click on the link below and you will be taken to my personal donation page where you can make a secure online credit card donation. The American Heart Association's online fundraising website has a minimum donation amount of $25.00. If you prefer to donate less, you can do so by sending a check directly to me.
Your donation will help fight our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers—heart disease and stroke. You are making a difference. Thank you for your support.

I felt really weird about posting it here, BUT all of you have been with me on my journey and this is part of it as well. 
If you cannot contribute financially and you you want to send me prayers, good luck vibes or good wishes ( {{{{{}}}}}}}}   ) they are welcomed as well. 
I am so excited b/c this is my "first race" . One of my dreams was to run the NYC marathon with DH. When I was told that would not be possible for me, I had to adjust my dream. He we be there Sunday to cheer ME on, instead of me cheering him on!
I cannot believe I am doing this and feel so blessed that a year after my surgery I am able to do this! I will be walking a total of 3 miles and I hope to walk a 9 minute mile on average.

Thank you for posting this - my dad had a heart attack when he was 36!!! He survived it, but lost his twin brother to heart disease....

Thank you for posting this.
DH lost his dad to a heart attack at 47 and his uncle at 48. His other uncle (their brother) also had a heart attack at 48, thankfully he survived.
DH NEEDS to take care of himself.
I would like to donate. Can I mail you a check?

Janet, you are right... it can happen at any time, no matter how "young or healthy".
I am so sorry for your loss and hopefully some of the $$$ raised will prevent this from happening to someone else.

We had a WONDERFUL time. DH and DD came with me to cheer me on.
I raised over $400 for AHA. When I signed in at the walk, they gave me a special "survivor's hat" to wear. The walk had some steep hills and that was challenging for me, but I hung in there and finished. I walked 3 miles (with hills) in 42 minutes. I had my polar heart monitor on the whole time and they had lots of personnel ans EMS there just in case anyone needed help. It was a lot of fun and I am definitely doing it again next year! Sorry I have not posted until now, I needed a nap when I got home and DD need a bath from playing outside at the walk this morning.
I am so proud of myself for walking this. I am also grateful to everyone on LIF who donated and supported me.
THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart.
