ooh hiii!!
i grew up in smithtown my whole life and still live within the town but not in nesconset anymore - close by though! there are tons of places around here that are fun to check out...
if you have a dog and want to take it to play with other dogs there is a great dog park at blydenburgh county park which is right on route 347 across from the state building which is next to the DMV - you can yahoo it and the town website will have better directions! it is a fenced in dog park and our dog LOVES it -- also, the trails and park itself is beautiful - great place to go kayaking (the water is gorgeous and calm!)
also - there is a fantastic breakfast/lunch place called maureen's kitchen that everyone raves about - but on a saturday or sunday the wait is usually pretty long so either go early or later when the "crowd" has died down a bit. it is off of 347 by where the watermill is - you would make a left if you are heading east, a right if you are heading west... it is near the avalon commons luxury apartment complex.
there is a mall right near nesconset - smithaven mall - has lots of nice stores and restaurants - they seem like they are adding more each day.
there are tons of great pizza and bagel places - branchanelli's in hauppauge is a really good italian place and then there is ciro's in smithtown or little vincent's in nesconset for great pizza take out. then, there is bagels and a hole lot more in nesconset/stony brook border over by the move theatre for good bagels... across the street from that is the lake grove diner - great diner!!
if you are ever having a party and need good food for entertaining check out uncle guiseppe's in smithtown by the library and main street - GREAT place - it is like a gourmet supermarket -- and it IS addicting!!!
we love to take a ride up past flowerfield and go down into stony brook village - nice shops and a cool place to walk around - then you can take scenic 25A down to port jeff which is a nice village to see!!
