ladies i am stuck
i really really really want an upholstered glider, but they are so expensive. i am totally willing to forgo an ottoman and just get a cute footstool, but every glider i see that doesn't have awful reviews is at least $350 or more.
is this a good price? should i just suck it up and buy one/put it on my registry?
i do plan on having several kids (if i am able ) so i am guessing it will be worth it, but i am so afraid of spending $$$$ on something that won't hold up.
advice???
(i did ask my mother for advice about the glider i originally wanted - it's a shermag that comes with an ottoman and it's $325 at target. she said to keep looking )

Have you tried other sites? Maybe overstock.com or even e-bay? eta - HSN, or other shopping network sites too

Re: ladies i am stuck
I wasn't going to buy one for the same reason. So I put it on my registry, never expecting that anyone would spend that much - and what do you know! - we got the glider and the ottoman.
Can't hurt just to add it. If no one buys it your no worse off than before and you can decide then if you want to look at something else...JMO.

Have you checked www.albeebaby.com? They have a selection of gliders/ottomans for under $300.

I use my Glider all the time. To me it was so worth the money to be comfortable. It was $$ but I figured it will be around forever.

we got ours from CSNbaby.com. It was $279 for the glider/ottoman. I wasn't sure I def wanted one but I have to be honest, it is my favorite spot in the house now!

Re: ladies i am stuck
Can you chose one from a place that sells the cushions seperate from the frame? This way someone can buy the frame and someone else can buy the cushions? I know the pottery barn catalog lists their gliders this way....although they are more expensive from pottery barn.... Or like someone else said, just register for it. People may chip in to buy it for you. Or you can use gift cards toward it. Also, if no one gets it for you, most places give you a discount when you buy things off of your registry. HTH

I got coupons from BRU yesterday, it said without a coupon all gliders are on sale 20% off, if you could use a coupon along with that, you would probably be able to get a great deal on one.

Re: ladies i am stuck
Believe it or not check out craigslist. Sometimes they have great finds!
And if it's a wood glider with cushions you could even make slip covers for them
A co-worker gave us a glider that totally didn't match our nursery. My sister made slip covers and it looks awesome:

Re: ladies i am stuck
Believe it or not Wal-Mart, Target and K-mart have pretty good gliders. Quite a few girls back when I was on the pregnancy board got them and LOVED them. Or as a PP said try craigslist. My aunt gave me hers and I'm making a slip-cover for it to match DD's room (but no ottoman).
But just to mention DD is going to be 7 months and I've sat in the glider about 5 times since she's been born and I was nursing for the 1st 2 months. Honestly I found that it just takes up space but then again every mom is different. I just found doing everything in bed was easier.

Re: ladies i am stuck
I got my sister's used glider, but if that wasn't available I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one. They have a cute one in Walmart for less than $100 that I was considering.

Re: ladies i am stuck
I would definitely put it on your registry! I think a glider is an awesome group gift that a few friends or family members can give you!!

Re: ladies i am stuck
I love my glider, to me it was worth the investment, I use it every day. I think you should try to sit in them, I found that I even disliked some with "great" reviews....and I also think there is no problem putting it on your registry...you never know!!
