the name Ryan...
Hi,
We are having such a tough time with boy names! I wanted to name of the twins Ryan, really love the name, but since I'm quite the overanalyzer, I of course have to think of everything that I might end up not liking in a name. I keep hearing that people are naming girls Ryan now - I know that's not a reason to not use a name, but I don't know why that bothers me! Any thoughts on how common this has become? Also, any ideas for middle names w/ Ryan would be appreciated - I am more into traditional names for the middle.
Thanks!!

Re: the name Ryan...
Personally I know soooo many Ryans under the age of 4 so I would not name my child that. But the boy/girl thing def would not stop me.

Thanks for the reply - you're right, I should not let it stop me, I sound like a man worrying about something like this

Re: the name Ryan...
I really like the name and would have had it on our list if it went well with our last name. I work with children (elementary) and haven't met a female Ryan yet!

Re: the name Ryan...
It's definitely a boy's name (or should I say assumed a boy's name over a girls).......however I totally love it for a girl!

Re: the name Ryan...
I think its a GREAT name and i would not let that stop me from naming a that. Think of how many names can go for either a boy or a girl - Jordan, Peyton, etc... I think Ryan is a WONDERFUL boy's name!!!!

Re: the name Ryan...
We are also thinking about Ryan for one of our twin boys (if we have a boy)... I love the name and won't let it being a girls name change our decision.
I think if you like the name for a boy.. you should go for it.

I love the name Ryan!
It is my first choice, but for some reason my husband isn't going for it.......I am cheezy and like it because it was my maiden name i miss my maiden name and don't LOVE my new one so I figured it would be cute to use it for a son..........my husband isn't having it though

I know a girl who used her maiden name to name her girl. Maybe your DH will come around.

My son is Ryan Joseph.
I love that! I would steal it, but Joseph is my dad's name and as obsessive as I am, I would worry that DH's father would be insulted we did not use his name as a middle name - and I'm not crazy about his name!

What about the name Rylan?
My coworker named her son that. Her DH wanted Kyle and she wanted Ryan, so they compromised!
I thought it was such a cute and unique name!

HA, so funny this came up. I work with a girl named Ryan. I was talking to DH about my job and I said "yeah, I sat with Ryan tonight and she told me.." He was like "it's a girl and her real name is Ryan?" Yes and we both love the name for a girl.
