Any frequent Southwest fliers out there DISGUSTED at how much their prices have gone up?

We used to fly to LI all the time from Baltimore, and rarely paid over $100. I know they had locked in fuel contracts that expired recently...

but.. my trip to LI is now $215

How ridiculous is THAT?!?! You can fly to LA for that price if you find a good deal.

Ugh it's so annoying that Southwest isn't the low-cost carrier it once was. We'll be driving to LI from now on.

I booked my flights to Orlando for August back when they first opened up, glad I did, the price has gone up considerably

I hear ya. I'm trying hard to accept that all the airline prices have gone way up over the past year or two. Unfortunately that includes SW and Jetblue, which used to be the only consistently affordable flights I could get from San Diego to NY.

i remember paying only about $45 each way or so for when i went to visit my sister in VA!

My parents live in Houston, TX and we couldn't go in April because it was so expensive.

We are going to Chicago this summer to visit friends and usually it is around $200 for both of us and we are paying double that!

It's nuts!!!

is it due to that expose on them not servicing their planes enough? maybe their prices went up b/c they are now actually servicing their planes??

The price of fuel is a major component in the higher prices.

That will mean less and less people will fly. Airlines will go out of business.

yeah, I always fly from Baltimore to LI and lately I have been thinking that I will just drive. Even though the gas prices are high for a family of 3 it is just costing to much fly to LI.

We have a Christening in Florida in late July that looks like we will be missing - cause we can not afford $160 EACH WAY for 3 of us

Just ticks me off - cause we just paid $80 bucks for us to fly in January

Actually airline prices have been unreasonable low --- they are just now starting to be at the level they should be at. Flying used to be a luxury way back when...
