I'm sorry to have to start another thread on this topic...Constipation!

I remember reading a thread on this some time ago and thinking, "oh those poor girls!" Well now I'M that poor girl! Alot of girls had recommended Colace or the store brand, so I bought it the other night. The directions say to take 2 tablets preferably at bed-time and that it may take 12 - 72 hours to work. My question is for those who are taking something, are you taking it everyday until you get some relief?

Are you taking prenatals? They definitely help bind up the works. I was so plugged I was begging for an enema (sorry TMI). It really only lasted I think through the first tri.

Drink, drink, drink some more. Prune juice is a natural laxative. I also used suppositories but those (along w/the E word) are pregnancy no-no's because it's like making your body used to stimulants to get things going..I didn't care - I felt like a tractor trailer was stuck up there and when things started moving on down...HOLY YEEEEOOWWW!!!

I took colace practically every day for my first trimester. I took it 3X a day at each meal as per my Dr. Eat lots of whole wheat pasta, fiber one, veggies, and fruit. In other words eat anything with fiber in it and drink tons of H2O. It does get better, hang in there. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was taking Fiber Choice pills daily. They are fruit flavors and they helped SO MUCH with my constipation...especially in the 3rd trimester when I had to take iron pills on top of my prenatals (talk about being constipated...)

Take Colace about once every other day(one pill at night) and get relief usually by morning. But now Dr put me on iron supplements so let the constipation begin!! I think fiber cereals help tremendously. Happy pooping.........Chat Icon

Well I had that problem too! The only thing I tried to do was change my pre-natel vitamins to something with a stool softner in it. I never took anything else. Fruit, fiber, whatever I tried to eat didn't help. Thankfully, for some reason, I am out of my first trimester and I am magically feeling ALL better!
