Those who have been to Montauk...
Please give me the pros & cons to these hotels:
1) Montauk Manor
2) Montauk Yacht Club
All the other ones require 3-4 night minimums. DH & I are going in July for our anniversary - just 2 nights. Please fill us in on these hotels.
What activities do you recommend as well...thanks!

Love both. Both offer a lot of options. For instance, both have regular rooms, but they both offer suites. The Montauk Manor has a townhouse like room, where it has two floors, one with a kitchen livingroom and veranda and then upstairs is a loft bedroom and bathroom.
The Montauk Yachtclub offers these cute little cottages that are huge!

What is the distance to town & the beach from either of these hotels?

Montauk Manor.
Neither one is right in town or on the beach. But it is probably a 5 minute drive to each b/c honestly, Montauk isn't that big.
The YC is on a Marina and closer to the sound side though.

Re: Those who have been to Motauk...
Car or walking?
From MM by car, 1 minute, maybe 2 by foot, maybe 15-20...never did it by foot
From MYC by car, maybe 10 minutes.
You have to remember that there are so many different beaches along the strip. The one by the IGA in town is the most popular beach.
Also, when you call either hotel, make sure to ask about parking. For instance, Ditch is only for residents, but people park in far places and walk. Or they park by the IGA beach and walk along the beach to Ditch.
As for things to do...I am assuming it's summer, so there is... The Movie...just one movie plays there A few ice cream shops, including Bed and Jerry's down at Gosman's Dock Mini Golf Lots of little shops Pizza Village is just one of a few pizza places
Gosman's Dock has a lot of shops and there is also their restaurant.
You can also drive to Lobster Roll along MOntauk HWY and always go into East Hampton.

Add to that -
Fishing Surfing (if you want to try) Bike Riding or Hiking in Hither Hills Sunset at the Montauket A day trip to Block Island (I hear they have a high speed ferry now).

Sunset at the Montauket
This is one of my favorite things to do. I've been going there since my parents bought their house in Montauk when I was 4.

I've also stayed there and like it. It's definitely not a 4 star hotel but it's not too shabby either. I think they've done rennovations since. It's not a place where you can walk into town though.
The Harvest is a great place to eat!

Re: Those who have been to Motauk...
I just went to the Montauk Yacht Club with my girlfriends for a spa weekend. I loved it. I have been to many, many spas and thought the treatments I had there were probably some of the best. I liked that they didn't push product and everything about the spa was very natural. The spa is a couple of minutes walk from the main hotel, but on the same property. They are in the middle of a big renovation and the plans are to bring the spa into an extension of the hotel building.
We ate at the restaurant and the food was excellent and had breakfast at a great little restaurant right around by Gosman's Dock. We had waterfront rooms and the balconies with adirondack chairs were so nice and worth the extra $. I would definitely go back again.
