Alright, I have to admit I'm confused (& embarassed)
Someone help me here......
So DH & I are planning to start TTC come the fall but I'm just trying to understand a few things & sorta kind plan around the time we can start (after going of BCP) ( &maybe I'm just a moron, so bare with me)
The best time to start TTC is:
2-3 days BO & 2-3 days AO, correct? but then how do I know when I'm ovulating (i know, stupid)
Do you calculate your ovulation by counting 14-16days before AF comes and have sex 5-6 days before every other day & that's when you are most fertile?????????
For example:
I get my next AF on 6/4
so the best time for me to TTC would technically be the end of last week & this week and I should be having sex every other day for the next 5 days?
Do I have this straight or am I WAY off?? 
this is avoiding having to chart b/c that confuses me too....what happened to just having sex lol

You sound like you've got it pretty straight!
If you have a 14 day luteal phase (time between O and AF) then you'd ovulate about 14 days before you'd expect your next AF.
Relative to Ovulation, you'd want to BD -2, -1, O, +1, +2.. to be safe.

I'm not sure...
Most people have a luteal phase between 12 and 16 days, with 14 being the average. Mine is typically 14 days, from what I've been seeing.

I have a 28-day cycle and my luteal phase is only 10 days. You can get an idea of when you ovulate by using an ovulation predictor kit. You can pinpoint the day you ovulate by taking your temperature every morning with a basal body thermometer (your resting temp rises after you ovulate), but it will only tell you AFTER you've ovulated.
You might want to get a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. It's known as the TTC bible and really outlines what happens to your body every month and why!

For the start I would just try every other day from CD 10 to CD20. That way you won't miss O. I personally wouldn't start with OPK's in the begining. I know a lot of people do, and I am dealing with IF now, but still it just makes life more stressful. Stress doesn't help. Just go with lots of sex for the begining.
That is my two cents.
