First birthday dilemma
My DDs first birthday if July 11th. We are currently living in an apartment, but are closing on a house the end of June. I just went to talk to my DH about picking a date and stuff for DDs party. He says we cant have a party we dont know where we are going to be we cant invite all these people and if we arent in the house where are we going to put all these people. My family is all from Northern NY, so its not even like we can just do cake and ice cream with family, its a big deal for them to come down. If we arent in the house they would have to get hotel rooms and there is no room in our apartment for a party. We could do a restaurant, but like I said, we are buying a house, so we dont have any money. I guess Im just frustrated because her first birthday is a big deal and I think it deserves a party, I just dont know what we are going to do. Thanks for letting me vent.

Can you do the party at a family members house instead?

Re: First birthday dilemma
Could you have the party later (like in August)?

Re: First birthday dilemma
Could you possibly do the party at the end of July? That way you'll know for sure if you will be in the house, then send invites out the 1st week in July or so?

I was going to suggest doing the party in August as well.

Re: First birthday dilemma
I agree about postponing it. 1st b-days are for the adults anyway. DD won't know that it's a month late. She'll be just as thrilled no matter when the party is.

Re: First birthday dilemma
Postponing it could work for a few reasons. If your relatives live far away, they may not want to come down twice in a short time for a birthday and to see your new house, so they can do both at once!

Re: First birthday dilemma
Thanks for your help girls. Having at a familiy members house is a possibility, but I hate imposing. Having it in August isnt really isnt a possibility because her cousin's first birthday is in August and we want to celebrate separately.
